Lake Saimaa - the pride of Finns
Lake Saimaa is one of the most beautiful places in the country, the pride of Finns. This is the largest lake in the south-eastern part of Finland; it is the fourth in area (4400 sq. km.) in Europe.
Unique Lake’s Saimaa “labyrinth” includes many ponds, which are connected by a Saimaa Canal (43 km). This channel also unites the lake with Gulf of Finland. You can take a cruise through Vyborg to Russia along the Saimaa Canal. There are about 14 thousands of picturesque islands among the aquatic expanses of Lake Saimaa.
